One of the most memorable times I remember as a young high school student was reading Jesus’ account in Matthew 20. The mother of two disciples had come to Jesus asking that in His Kingdom her two sons would sit one on the left and the other on the right of Jesus. Jesus ended this discussion in verses 25 & 26, But Jesus called them to himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave – 28Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
I think I knew from the beginning ministry was serving. Nothing more, nothing less. Ministry is not about preaching, although it may include that. It is about building people. These past few weeks, Donna and I are becoming stronger and more determined to build people over building a ministry. Through our work in East Africa we are putting into others the values and principles of the Word of God to build people in Kenya. Thank you for helping us do just that!
